Founder and Board Member - Clearcover
Derek is co-founder, board member and former Chief Operating Officer at Clearcover. Starting Clearcover in 2016 with Kyle Nakatsuji, they raised over $500 million in venture funding and debt to grow the company to over 500 employees. As COO, Derek was in charge of claims, customer service, legal and compliance functions in addition to leading all reinsurance and carrier management activities which included oversight of Clearcover Insurance Company, Clearcover Inter-Insurance Exchange and Clearcover Financial. Prior to Clearcover, Derek spent over 30 years in the insurance industry in M&A, innovation and capital planning roles. Derek continues to serve on the Board of Clearcover, Clearcover Insurance Company and Clearcover Financial, Attorney-in-Fact for Clearcover Inter-Insurance Exchange.
